Yes, you must use the personalized mode in the app for groups over 9. And here’s why!
iPhones can only send to a maximum of 9 people in a shared group thread at a time. That’s done on purpose by Apple to prevent huge groups of recipients who get bombarded with people’s replies. The recommended way to send to a larger list like your 45 recipients is to use Hit Em Up on its normal settings (Personalized Mode). That will open a new thread with each person in quick succession and ensure your message is delivered!
