Hit Em Up uses your default Messages app to initiate any mass text (group text without reply all) via SMS text or iMessage- so it will work the same as if you were to initiate those messages from within your phone’s Messages app. I hope that helps! can I send a video in a group text with no reply?

Sure- we recommend attaching a YouTube link or Vimeo link into the body of your message. Most modern smartphones will show the link as a playable video without leaving the messaging app. Check out our FAQ on our site which explains how to attach a video if you need further help 🙂

No, please keep all the default settings on your phone the same. The method you described is not a supported method of sending texts and will likely lead to your messages failing to be delivered.
So does everyone who wants to send a message (not just reply) need the app?

Nope! Only the person sending needs the app as it uses your default iMessage and SMS client to send messages.
How does the app work with limited outgoing texts – like on the iPhone it will only send around 20 messages at a time – if I want to text out to 100 people how does that work? Do I have to do 5 separate emails or will the app pick up the next contacts and pull them into the text? Hope that makes sense….

I am a teacher and would like to send parents group reminders, but I do not want to flood them with responses from other parents. Would this app be more beneficial?

It will allow you to send individual messages to each parent without them seeing each other in the thread as each will be on their own thread with you, but from your side you will be able to send quickly to everyone’s parents in your class. Im sure you’re busy but i sent an few questions a few days ago (late last week) and haven’t heard anything. Question:

Our basic subscription uses your own iPhone to send the texts through iMessage so it works exactly like sending a normal text from your phone. 🙂

Best practice says to just ask people not to reply to your messages. In general SMS is a two way communication medium and is designed for conversations. I currently am using group text app and it works sometimes and then others are able to see responses. Security is my biggest concerns since we are asking for prayer request. Will this app allow down loads from excell or CVS files.

1)I understand it’s free to download initially but what is the eventual price of this app and how long is trial period?
2)Also, I had quite a bit of trouble w another app in sending mass messages: for instance not all of those I send to receive theirs msgs at all and still others may only receive an incomplete msg of only one or two words. I’m told my present app isn’t compatible w some phones of recipients. How does this perform in these areas?

What happens when I receive a group MMS message on my Android from some else? Also, what if I want to send a group MMS message when this app is installed?

Our app works via your default messages app so there would be no change to how your devices functions now with regard to MMS. You can also change the sending mode to MMS in the sending preview screen from the default BCC private texting mode if you like.

Does this app have the ability to turn on “reply” all, for example, we want everyone coming to an event to respond with what they are bringing. It would be beneficial in this instance to see what others are bringing, so not everyone brings dessert. LOL

There is currently a setting called “Group Mode” which is accessible under the sending preview screen under the gear icon. However, this will make it so that everybody sees everybody else’s text replies which is NOT personal or private. That is why the default setting is for “Personalized Mode” where each message IS PRIVATE and PERSONAL. Generally, it is best practice to keep the default PERSONALIZED MODE on keep things private and one on one and not to create a massive group thread. However, if you don’t mind if your recipients see each other’s replies and the other people you are texting then feel free to switch to group mode (MMS). Typically its reliable up to 12 members depending on which devices they have you may be able to add more or less because MMS and Group iMessage technology and compatibility varies from device to device and if your recipients have some less compatible Android devices then message delivery and thread member consistency may be less reliable as you send to more people.

All messages originate from the phone number of the phone which you are sending on so while you can both download a copy of Hit Em Up, the messages will be sent from your own phone number. I’m not sure I’m understanding the functionality of this app completely. Under personal mode, I still need to “send” each text individually (pressing send). Under group mode all replies will be visible to the entire group, which is no bueno.
So if I am to send out a blast to say, 200 people, I still need to press send 200 times? Am I understanding this correctly?

That’s how it works! I understand that there is a desire for a sort of fire hose option for sending messages in bulk, but it’s a tricky subject which we cover in detail on our blog here: https://www.hitemupapp.com/avoid-spam-filters
In essence: Carriers don’t want you to spam people. If we created an option for texting from your number at super-speed, there is a high chance that your carrier will block your phone number from sending either temporarily or permanently depending on the circumstances.
Do everyone has to download the app in order for this to work? or only the originator?
